- Receiving an official BCF tattoo
- Collecting DNA samples
- Completing the nomination process
Required Dates & Locations:
- April 19 & July 9 (Choose one)
- Market Stewers/Roasters: 3:00-4:00 PM at the 4-H Office
- Meat Pen Rabbits: 9:00-11:00 AM at Barn A
- Cost: $2 per tattoo
Breeding & Show Rabbits:
All breeding and show rabbits must have a legible tattoo in their left ear before fair. Families can do their own tattoos or bring their rabbits to one of these scheduled events.
Who Needs to Attend?
If you have a breeding or show rabbit, you do not have to attend but must ensure your rabbit has the required ear tattoo.
If you are showing a market rabbit (Stewer, Roaster, or Meat Pen) at the Boulder County Fair, you must bring your rabbit to one of these dates.

2025 AC & MQA LIVESTOCK TRAINING
All first-year members or first-year Senior(14yrs or older) participants in a livestock project (including all market, breeding, dairy, poultry, rabbit) (excluding dog, cat, cavy, and horse) are required to attend an MQA training to be eligible to show or sell at the Boulder County Fair and Colorado State Fair. This year Boulder County will be hosting an in-person opportunity for members to complete this requirement.
There will be other trainings across the state, as well. Other shows may have requirements to take the training more frequently or to take a YQCA national training. It is the youth’s responsibility to know what the shows require. To compete at the Boulder County Fair, youth need to take the MQA training once as a first-year member, and once as a 14-year-old member or older. Please plan to attend our local training and RSVP ahead of time. Register HERE.
