About BoCo 4-H Shooting Sports

Colorado 4-H shooting sports projects teach youth life skills such as decision making, teamwork, self-discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, problem solving, safe handling of firearms / archery equipment and basic marksmanship. The 4-H Shooting Sports program is an activity for a lifetime and is enjoyed by over 2,500 Colorado 4-H Youth each year. e-Records / Record books

4-H Record Books are also called e-Records. Each project has its own record book that members are required to complete each year. The links to e-Records in the specific project areas are below. Record books are turned in at Interview Judging before our County Fair. You will need to schedule an interview for each of your project areas and bring your record book with you to Interview Judging the week of the County Fair.

  • September 2-3 in Colorado Springs – Shotgun, .22 Pistol

Hunter Safety Requirement

In order to compete at county or State shoots you will also need to have proof that you completed the CO Hunter Safety Course (copy of Hunters Safety Card needs to be on file). You may practice without completing the CO Hunter Safety Course, but you must have completed the CO Hunter Safety Course to compete in shooting competitions. This portion is NOT provided by 4-H.

All Boulder County 4-H Shooting Sports members must have a Colorado Hunter Safety Education Card and bring the card to the county shoot off. This rule is stated in the Boulder County Shooting Sports Addenda to Colorado 4-H Shooting Sports State Rule Book 2020-2021 item #7. The current Boulder County Shooting Sports Addendum can be found on the Shooting Sports page of the Boulder County 4-H website.   Here is a link to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife page where Hunter Safety Classes can be found.

Ambassadors

As a Colorado 4-H Shooting Sports Ambassador, you will be representing over 82,000 4-H youth and alumni from across Colorado. Remember, you never get a second chance to make a good first impression. As an Ambassador you will be meeting with potential donors who are CEO’s of companies, University Administrators and others that support the Colorado 4-H program. The way you present yourself, talk and act are very important when you are serving as an Ambassador.
